Saorlaith - from the Irish saor, meaning free or noble, and flaith, a ruler - the noble princess, or perhaps more truly, the free ruler. It is a name that grants sovereignty as a birthright. The earliest record appears in the Annals of Ulster under the year 969, in the Middle Irish spelling Sáerlaith, which is to say this is not a modern revival but a name with over a thousand years of continuous Irish ground beneath it.
The rest of Saorlaith's story is set down in the print.
