Handcrafted pieces that last generations
Mayo Calligraphy provides hand-drawn calligraphy for the moments that deserve more than the ordinary - weddings, family history, remembrance, corporate recognition, and the poems and words that define a life.
Weddings & Events
Wedding & Event Calligraphy
Mayo Calligraphy transforms your wedding stationery from the first impression your guests receive - a hand-lettered envelope - through to save-the-dates, invitations, one-of-a-kind table plans made to order using photos of you as children, places that were important to you both, or streets you grew up on; hand-lettered place cards, mass booklets that are a world away from the generic church-printed version and can include photos of previous generations' weddings, references to loved ones who have gone before, and tributes to the places and people who shaped your story - and thank-you cards that close the day with the same care it opened with.
Heritage & Legacy
Family Trees
A Mayo Calligraphy family tree is a world away from the generic trees printed from PC software on half a dozen sheets that you sellotape together. Each tree is a unique, hand-inked artwork - drawn in traditional Chinese ink, often on calf/goat skin vellum, with decorative borders, family crests, illuminated initials and lovingly lettered names that may go back five or six generations. They hang on walls, they are passed down, they become the thing a family gathers around. We also offer a beautifully formatted computer-generated version for those who need every name and date recorded without the extended lead time. Either way, your family's story is preserved in a form that will outlast all of us.
Custom Pieces
Poems, Lyrics & Quotes
A favourite poem, a wedding vow, the lyrics of the song that was playing when everything changed - hand drawn into a lasting piece of art by Mayo Calligraphy. These are among the most personal commissions we take on, and among the most treasured gifts: for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, new arrivals, and the people who deserve something made only for them.
Remembrance
Memorial Cards & Bookmarks
Honouring the life of someone you have loved deserves more than a standard card. Mayo Calligraphy designs each memorial card and bookmark individually - working with you to choose the verse, incorporate a photo of a homeplace, a favourite holiday destination, a much-loved pet, or a garden they tended - so that what you place in people's hands at the hardest time carries something of the person you are saying goodbye to.
Corporate & Institutional
Certificates & Corporate Work
Mayo Calligraphy has been the official calligrapher to Ashford Castle and The Lodge at Ashford for over 15 years - a relationship built on trust, discretion and consistently beautiful work. We supply certificates to the Ireland Micro Business Awards, the British Micro Business Awards, and the Bumbleance Children's Ambulance Service, and have delivered commissions for county councils, GAA clubs, universities and community organisations across Ireland. If your organisation needs calligraphy that reflects the importance of the occasion, we would be glad to help.
