Sal - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

... from the Hebrew Sarah, meaning ancient princess, the name softened through Sally and finally breathed down to its smallest ember. Sal carries the warmth of a hearth-word, three letters that fall from the tongue like a sigh. It is the intimate name given only by those who love deeply, a secret syllable passed from mother to daughter, from kin to kin, in Ireland where Sarahs filled parish books for generations and Sal was the name spoken when doors were closed and hearts were open. It holds the lineage of women whose strength was quiet and whose grace was unadorned. In modern times Sally Field, the two-time Academy Award winner, played the grounded counterpoint to Robin Williams in Mrs Doubtfire. The full story of Sal - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.
