Olan - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

... an old Cork name, held for fifteen centuries by the parish that loves it best: Olan is the patron saint of Aghabullogue in mid-Cork, set down in the Martyrology of Donegal as Eolang, his feast kept on the fifth of September, when pattern-day crowds once paid the rounds at his well. Tradition makes him teacher to no less a pupil than Finbarr, the saint of Cork itself. And his country still carries his signature: St Olan's Well, and in the churchyard St Olan's Cap, a standing stone cut with ogham, the oldest writing Ireland has. The full story of Olan - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.
