Kuba - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

Kuba - a name that arrives in Ireland the way names always have - by boat, with a family, full of home. Kuba is the Polish pet form of Jakub, which is Jacob, from the Hebrew Ya'aqov, the patriarch who wrestled an angel until daybreak and would not let go without a blessing. In Poland the short form is a name in its own right, worn at the very highest level: Jakub Błaszczykowski, who captained Poland at Euro 2012, played with Kuba on the back of his shirt at Borussia Dortmund - the small name, the home name, carried out in front of eighty thousand people. And Kuba is an Irish name now too, as at home in an Irish schoolyard as Seán or Sadhbh - because names do not stay where they were born, they stay where they are loved. The full story of Kuba - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.
