Fiadh - Irish Name - Digital Download

The meaning of Fiadh

Fiadh - from the Old Irish word fia, which refers to wild animals - specifically deer. Another archaic translation of fiad is "respect". Fiadh is Ireland herself in a single syllable - wild, untamed, belonging entirely to the land rather than to any hall or court. The wild deer of the forest; the fia who moved through the ancient oakwoods of Connacht and Munster, silent and sovereign, unbeholden to any hunter's hand.

The rest of Fiadh's story is set down in the print.

This print
