Elliemea - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

... a new name made in the oldest way - two loved names joined into one, Ellie and Mae, so that a daughter carries both. Ellie is the warm hearth-form of Eleanor and Elizabeth, reaching back to the Hebrew Elisheva, my God is an oath - a promise-name, spoken over cradles for centuries. Mae is May itself, the month the Romans named for the goddess Maia, mother of spring - and no country wears May like Ireland, when the hawthorn whitens every ditch and headland until the whole island seems lit from within. It is the month the light wins. Joined together, the two make something none of the old books hold, and that is its own kind of blessing: a name with roots in promise and blossom, and its face turned entirely forward. The full story of Elliemea - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.
