Eilish - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

... the Irish form of Elizabeth, from the Hebrew Elisheva, meaning my God is an oath - a promise-name as old as scripture, taken into the Irish mouth and softened until it ends in a hush. For generations Eilish was the name heard at home in Irish kitchens while Elizabeth stood stiffly in the parish register - the real name, the one actually called up the stairs. Then the world caught up with it. Billie Eilish, who carries it as her middle name, became at seventeen the youngest artist ever to win the four main Grammy awards in a single night, and an old Irish whisper was suddenly pronounced, carefully and correctly, on every radio on earth. The name did not change - the world finally heard it. The full story of Eilish - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.
