Calahan - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

Calahan - from the Irish Cellachán, a pet form of Cellach, one of the great names of early Ireland - and a name that ruled: Cellachán Caisil, king of Munster at Cashel until his death in 954, fought the Norse of the harbour towns and was remembered in his own epic, and from his line came the O'Callaghans and the MacCarthys of Cork. The surname Ó Ceallacháin - descendant of Cellachán - was anglicised down the centuries to Callaghan and Callahan, and in this spelling, Calahan, it is pared to its cleanest line, the sound kept whole. The full story of Calahan - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.
