Aoibhe - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

... from the Irish aoibh, a small word with a lovely reach - the dictionary gives it as smile, pleasant expression, beauty: the brightness that comes over a face. It is the root that flowers into Aoife, the great name of the sagas, and it echoes in Aoibheall, the fairy queen of Craig Liath above the Shannon at Killaloe, guardian spirit of the Dál gCais, who legend says came to Brian Boru on the eve of Clontarf. Aoibhe is the root itself, plain and perfect - one of those names reached for when Irish came back into the naming of daughters. The full story of Aoibhe - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.
