emmett-celtic-name-print-fine-art-print
Emmett - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

... a name with more than one root in the ground - the Hebrew emet, truth; the Anglo-Saxon for the industrious one; and behind the English surname, the Germanic irmin, whole, or great, by way of Emma. Truth, industry and wholeness: no small inheritance for two syllables. But in Ireland the name belongs to one man above all others. Robert Emmet was twenty-five when he led the rising of 1803, and when it failed he stood in the dock and asked that no man write his epitaph until his country had taken her place among the nations of the earth.

The full story of Emmett - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.

This print
Created in the Celtic uncial script tradition, with original Celtic knotwork ornament designed by Maggi Geraghty.
