dearbhaile-celtic-name-print-fine-art-print
Dearbháile - Irish Name - Fine Art Print

... from the Old Irish Derbáil, read in the old name-books as daughter of Fál - and Fál is no small thing to be daughter to, for it is an ancient poetic name for Ireland herself: Inis Fáil, the island of Fál, called after the Lia Fáil, the Stone of Destiny standing on the Hill of Tara, which legend says roared with joy when the true king set his foot upon it. Medieval Ireland loved this name and kept it moving through its noble houses for hundreds of years, and it survives today in the anglicised shapes Derval and Dervla - though Dearbháile holds the older music, the full Irish form with the fada flying over it like a flag. The full story of Dearbháile - its meaning, history, and place in Ireland - is set down in the print.

This print
Created in the Celtic uncial script tradition, with original Celtic knotwork ornament designed by Maggi Geraghty.
